Toccata in E minor, BWV 914

Glenn Gould – piano

ONE-SENTENCE REVIEW:

Named the “Italian” concerto because it was composed in “the Italian style,” this is a great disc of Bach keyboard “hits” and is definitely worth a listen (or two or three).

ORIGINAL LINER NOTES:

This is a CBS Masterworks discounted disc from the late 1980s, so there are no Liner Notes (lucky you). But if you really really really want to read some liner notes – check out these from the Goldberg Variations – or these awesome ones from C.P.E. Bach’s Trio Sonatas.

TRACK LISTING:

  • 1-7: Partita No. 4 in D major, BWV 828
  • 8-10: Concerto in F major, BWV 971
  • 11: Toccata in E minor, BWV 914

FINAL THOUGHT:

Easiest review ever! Great music, great performance – ’nuff said.
