When you live with a colostomy bag you pretty much wish you were dead all the time, but somehow I’m still here.

And so are Those Damn Kids.

Over the weekend, the little fuckers TP’d my house again. It took Mrs. Aldrich all day Saturday and most of Sunday to get that shit crap out of my trees.

But I’m not writing about Those Damn Kids today, I’m writing about Mitt Romney (speaking of shit crap!).

MITT ROMNEY MUST NOT WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!

A Romney victory would be bad for me. Bad for Mrs. Aldrich. Bad for Michigan. Bad for the country. And bad for the whole damn world.

He wants to be President not because he wants to help anyone. He wants to be President because it would be the culmination of a career. The top line of a resume he has been filling out his entire life.

I’m not going to get into his shitty politics and things he plans to do to reward all those who helped him get into office. You can hear and read all of that everywhere else.

Frankly, I’m sick of it and wish it were all over.

I absolutely feel things… are… getting… better.

If Mitt Romney is elected, things… will… get… worse.

Life in Michigan has been a goddamned grind since 2000. There were no boom years under Bush – anyone who tells you that is a liar.

And this isn’t a personal attack on Mr. Romney (though it makes me sick that someone who is 65 looks as young as he does). It’s wrong to live an entire life and not put cigarettes and booze in your system.

How could you live through the 1960s and 1970s without cigarettes and booze?

And this isn’t a religious attack – though I don’t have many Mormon friends (they just never hung out in the same bars as I did). As far as I’m concerned, a person can worship whatever and whomever they like. I don’t understand how they believe the Garden of Eden is in western Missouri. I’ve been to western Missouri and I still haven’t got the stink off me. But that’s not for me to judge.

I had no trouble with him. He kept his hands off the auto industry and that’s all that mattered to most people in this state back then.

I’ve lived 89 years. And, no, I’m not better off than I was four years ago. Four years ago I could still use my ass to take a shit.

Health is everything.

Let me repeat, health is EVERYTHING. Money means NOTHING without your health.

And this country is about to put a man in office that values money over everything else.

EVERYTHING ELSE.

Health be damned.

What does he care? He’s never even had a beer in his life.

  1. Right on Lester. SEriously, how can someone, according to the polls, have been planning to vote for Obama, and after the debate, according to the polls, indicate an intent to vote for Obama? The two seem mutually exclusive.

Romney has no core, no compunction, no tie to ethical beliefs. He reminds me of Captain Louis Renault in “Casablanca”, who says to Rick, “I have no conviction. I blow with the wind, and the prevailing wind happens to be from Vichy.”

    1. What utter foolishness. Saying “health if most important” and then bashing him for not drinking and smoking? You may or may not be 89 but either way this is drivel and nobody should vote based on it.

Things are not “getting better” under our current president, they are getting worse. I am voting for Romney, for a better future for our country.

    2. The irony of this post is just killer. He can’t trust Romney because he has never smoked or drank, meanwhile he is the one with a colostomy bag.

To say Romney does not care about people with cancer is pretty dumb too. You do know that his wife of 43 years has already battled breast cancer (the same cancer that killed my own mother by the way) and she still battles MS. Trust me he cares.

I’m very sorry for your health issues, I really am, but please, do the next generation a favor and stop trying to saddle us with a complete incompetent as a president because you are miserable.

      1. I am curious Rhino what makes you think that your judgement is somehow superior to those who don’t trust Romney? I hear this all the time from my ” elders ” and all I can say is its absolute BS to claim your thinking of the next generation. Truth is the GOP is primarily attractive to old people and those young people who have a vested interest in keeping things the way they are. The youth as well as the educated adults overwhelmingly support Obamma, so which future generations were you referring too?

        1. Look, dgood… I hate to be ‘that guy’, but if your text is any sign of ‘education’ in the US, and what we have to look for from our future generations, then our country is in dire need of reform…

Our nation cannot and will not thrive when we are collapsing any hope of a positive future by ‘spending our way out of debt’, reducing incentives of those who bust their asses on a daily basis to earn as bright a future as they are able by redistributing their wealth as the Government sees fit, reducing incentives for businesses to actually hire, and eliminating healthcare for those in need by creating excessive burden for clinics and healtcare facilities that simply don’t have the manpower or time of day to deal with the complications of socialized healthcare…

This has been brought to you by a Gen X/Y cusp who believes in building a stronger foundation for a country in urgent need.

  2. Everyone in a swing state might want to ask Massachusetts why it is overwhelmingly against rehiring Mitt as a government CEO. Or why he left with one of the lowest approval ratings (34%) in state history.

    1. Right on point…Obama holds 20%+/- lead in Romney’s home state. Romney was bad as Governor. He raised fees on everything… $250 million the first year. He cut services to the bone, cut student aide, funding for police and a whole lot more. The police blamed Romney for the rise in crime when police cut back their patrols. Massachusetts received an unexpected grant from George Bush that helped Romney balance the budget. As far as job creation, America had a 5.5% rise in employment when he was Governor but Massachusetts had only a 1.5% rise and ranked 47th in job creation. So much for his claim to fame as a job creator. Romney’s signature piece of legislation he got passed was Romney Care, the model for Obama Care. He said he had compassion for the uninsured because he pushed for this. But he said it is no good for the rest of the uninsured people in America. So much for his compassion. He quit after 4 years and did not have the guts to seek a second term. He either did not have desire to continue in service to the people in Massachusettes or he knew he would not get re-elected. He left office with a 40% approval record.

    2. I agree, bad as Governor. I thought he had a 40% approval rating…sorry I over stated it in my last blog. After 4 years he gave it up because he knew he would not get re-elected. BTW he got shot down as a candidate for VP as a running mate with McCain in 2008. The Republicans picked Palin over him. How bad did they think Romney was if they picked her over him?? I heard it was because he showed the search committee a lot more tax returns, perhaps 20 years worth and that was why they turned him down.

      1. What I thought was quite interesting, is that he was passed over as a running mate for McCain AFTER he showed McCain 24 years of tax returns. One would have thought that he had 4 years to begin clearing up those Cayman Island, Bermuda and Swiss accounts etc. But, I think Harry Reid had some inside information regarding Romney’s real tax from the past- either second hand from McCain or from someone in the Mormon Church.

  3. Lester, You are a bitter old man who has an opinion . That being said; one has to wonder why neighborhood kids would taunt you and tp your house, possibly the answer lies with in the bitter old man syndrome. As for your gut feeling, that is most likely gas you are feeling. The economy is not growing and the facts are in the pudding, maybe you should replace the jello with some pudding Lester !! Obama is damaged goods and has had plans to move to Hawaii, that is why he purchased a 40 million dollar home a few months ago. Romney is worth 250 million……and hasn’t purchased a 40 million dollar home…..personal or trust !! Who’s your daddy Lester……..keep drinking that union water up there in Michigan !!!!!

    1. Romney has not purchased a 40 million dollar home, I guess that makes him a man of the people. He is so far removed from the experience that most people have that it is as if he is from another planet. That is possible because Mormon’s beliefs include some ideas about having a world in outer space. Overall, Romney does make a good space cadet but he would make a terrible president!

      1. The rich-guy image continues to hamper Romney, to the point that Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly asked him about it this week. His answer: “Guess what? I made a lot of money.”
        Hello???

        See the link..

        http://www.republicansforobama.org/node/9991

Romney’s personal real estate includes six homes: one in La Jolla, two in the Boston area, a ski lodge in Utah and two lakeside residences in New Hampshire.

When Romney’s name then came up in the 2008 McCain campaign’s private veep discussion — they couldn’t go to the country with a Republican ticket that owned 14 houses between the two of them,” the source said. “That knocked Romney off the list right there.”

      2. Obama has also not brought a $40 million home. Just some lame conjecture by the folks at world net daily. Yeah, there’s a reliable source.

    2. Why would Romney need to purchase another home? He has 4 already. He is, however, spending what?…12 million to put in an elevator for his cars at his California home.

        1. Knowing how to get an economy moving and doing it is 2 different things. What the fuck do you people expect to happen in 4 years? The man ain’t Jesus. No matter who won th election on 08, we still would be in thi ssituation atleast President Obama got the unemployment down instead of up, he killed the dick who murdered us on 9/11. It wouldn’t matter what he did because alot of you hate him blindly and use anything as ammo against him. If he brought unemploy, emt down to 5% you would still find reason. President Obama has not lied once. he overestimated the ue rate, but admitted it. Romney flat out lies. The simple fact that Romney is even a contender speaks on how pathetic this country is. You want microwave results. a decade to get us here and you expect 4 to get us out. What fantasy world do ya’ll live in?

    3. Romney was worth a lot more that that, perhaps $350 total. He put money in a IDGT trust for his heirs and that is now worth about $100 million which is a rich man’s way of giving money to his heirs and avoid paying gift taxes on it. This could have cheated the US treasury out of as much as $55 million. Last night he said his money was invested in a blind trust trying to make it seem that he did not know that he had investments in the Caymans and other off shore accounts. His tax return listed 34 off-shore accounts 30 of which are in countries considered to be tax havens. Does he think he can fool us into believing he did not know what was in the 300 pages of documents in his tax return? He signed it!! What kind of business man would he be if he did not pour over all of his tax return documents and review all of his investments…that is his job. making investments, many in foreign countries.

      1. “Cheated the Treasury out of as much as $55 million” This demonstrates a mentality that money belongs to the government and they “let us” keep some. It’s not the government’s money, it’s the people money and we pay the taxes that are due, but not more.

        1. Hey John, how do you like paying a larger percentage of your income as taxes than Willard Mitt Romney, that man of the people you are shilling for?

    4. The expression you are groping for is “the proof of the pudding is in the eating.” There are no facts in pudding. Just fats.

    5. tman…you’re right. Ole Mitt hasnt purchase A 40 million dollar home….he has purchased a FEW homes in his day including one worth $12 million dollars that he and his wife plan to bulldoze and rebuild into an even bigger home! Don’t take my word for it, check out this article in Fobres. http://www.forbes.com/sites/zillow/2012/09/06/homes-of-presidential-candidates-mitt-romney-and-barack-obama/
He may not have spent 40 million on a home but his wife is sure in to spending thousands of dollars of clothes. In fact one blouse whe wore was priced at over $1,000 by itself. If you want to sling dirt at least make sure you swing it in all directions. Face it all politicans lie! Period!! However I feel that people are going to great lengths to discredit President OBAMA over some pretty petty stuff. I mean we all gave Busch 8 years to mess up the economy….why not give PRESIDENT OBAMA 8 to clean it up.

      1. This conversation shows the extent of the progressive influence in our country. Every commenter dissing Romney for being very successful is simply a hypocrite. You would be a happy camper if you had his success, but your brain has been crippled by progressive, left wing, socialist propaganda. You people criticizing Romney have the same mentality as the Pharisees that condemned Jesus Christ to death. They were ENVIOUS. Why don’t you shut up and go make yourself a fortune? This is America, right?
Obummer want’s everyone to get a “fair shot”. (His fair shot will be one in the head. )The NDAA [look it up] will put you in prison on SUSPICION of only aiding a terrorist. It was signed into law by the liar on new years day. Since the liberals have named right wing Christians as “terrorist”, you’d better be watching your back side if the wanna be dictator gets reelected

    6. no your the one bitter and ill informed. I live in california where the rommeys tore down a perfectly good multimillion dollar home to build a bigger one with the damn elevator in it and the construction continues to distrub our peace and quiet.

    7. Setting the Record Straight – President Obama is NOT BUYING A HOUSE IN HAWAII
The White House has recently been notified by the NSA Domestic Surveillance group that some Americans are spreading rumors about President Obama buying a house in Hawaii to move into after the election is over. Obviously, this rumor is UNFOUNDED since the President will be living in the White House for the next FOUR YEARS.

Fortunately, there are ways of dealing with this type of problem.

President Obama is looking forward to a long, relaxing, and well-deserved Hawaii vacation during the Christmas holiday. Thank you for your interest in our President.
While President Obama was satisfied with his Kailua vacation home from this past Christmas, he has yet to put a down-payment on his 2012 Hawaii vacation rental due to the uncertainty surrounding the outcome of the Presidential Election this Fall. While an anticipated landslide would justify a step-up from his past Hawaii vacation homes, a mere “close victory” may mean a return to one of his previous villas. Clearly, the stakes are high this Fall.

And No, Romney purchased a home in La Jolla for $12.5 million – his 5th home, and quietly began plans to raze the home to replace it with a 11,000 sq ft home. The garage will have it’s own elevator.

  4. Right on Lester! Romney is trying to win the presidency on the promise that he’ll cut everyone’s taxes by 20%. But the true fact is, it’s not that he won’t tell us how he would pay for it, he has NO idea how he would pay for it. Seems to be just some messy math problem he’ll figure out later. He thinks he can just dangle a carrot in front of us, I should say….some of us…..and we’ll just send him on up to Pennsylvania Ave. Voters….open you’re eyes.

    1. Ronmey panders to whichever group to whom he is campaigning. Tell him what you want and he will promise you will get it if he is elected.

  5. Well Les we are glad you are still here. 89-Years of age, WOW. Congrats. There is a saying that you don’t depart until you have accomplished what it is you are suppose to do on this grand ole Earth. Just a saying mind you. Perhaps a fellow that would bet $10,000 when he only has $106 in the bank remains here until he gathers some good sense. Perhaps that good sense would also include the good sense to vote for Romney for President. Just saying.

  6. I pray he doesn’t. I pray that people of America will give Mr. President the chance to realize his dream – to bring prosperity to those who need it most. If he can’t make it than no one else will. I can’t count but I can read honesty and humanity in people’s eyes.

  7. Thank you Lester. It’s true! You know when you watch Romney operate and communicate with people and then take to time to take something away from Romney’s statements one can understand why Wall Street and the to big to fail banks failed in 2008. It wasn’t only poor judgments it was the arrogance and greed that drives businessman to lie about everything they do and know, if you say it enough you might just have the money and power to make the American people believe you. Even when Wall Street needed the bail out they still had Americans convinced they weren’t in trouble, so is business 50% knowledge and 50% BS, or is it 98% BS and 2% knowledge?

  8. I’ve been saying all along since last Wednesday that people, even many on the left, underestimate Barack Obama. He’s a lot more savvy than people give him credit for.

Always keep in mind that it’s the quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for.

I suggest he has, once again, as he’s done many a time in the past, set up an opponent for a huge fall as part of a strategic October Surprise. This part being the ol’ rope-a-dope strategy.

I look forward to another four years of this quiet, cool, calm, collected and very canny man as our president.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!

    1. America was going downhill fast when Obama took office. Obama’s only mistake was underestimating how bad things were and how little cooperation he would get from the Republicans in trying to fix things. Make no mistake about it, America is on it’s way back. Perhaps a bit slower than we’d all like but it IS on the rise…be patient, patience is a virtue. Too many people expect instant gratification. Instead of asking are YOU better of now than 4 years ago? A better question is is AMERICA better off than it was 4 years ago? We are all in this together. America is on the rise…forward…upward. Mitt wants to take it in a different direction. The opposite of forward and upward is downward and backward. BELIEVE IN AMERICA, not the empty promises of a rich old man with no national experience. He was a bad Governor who is loosing to Obama by 205 in his home state.

  9. I live in Missouri and reject your “stink” comment. That said, I agree. Missouri is one of the most conservative states and I don’t know of ANYONE… underscore ANYONE and that includes Republicans who are voting for Romney.

    1. Perhaps your circle of friends is limited. ”

Mitt Romney now has a double-digit lead in Missouri.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters, taken the night after the second presidential debate, finds Romney with 54% support to President Obama’s 43%. One percent (1%) favors some other candidate, and three percent (3%) remain undecided.”

  10. ive been in natl politics for 25 years – came to dc with biden – worked on 4 dem presidentials -its all about trends…

Sorry Lester. Hate to disappoint an old man but unless mitt does something really stupid – it’s over.

indies are going to him in higher numbers than they did for obama in 08 and can anyone imagine mccain voters who switched to obama?

accept reality folks, remember 2010 and get ready for 2014 and 16 .

    this one is done.

    1. Tim you say you have 25 years’ experience on the national level, right? Then you should know what a demographic is. And in this election as in 2008 demographics are what counts. Romney needs to hold onto 65 percent of the white non-Hispanic male voter block to win. Right now at best he has 55 percent. That is not going to do it. No matter what the polls are saying the percentages just aren’t there for Former Governor Romney. And with his stumble on abortion this week. It isn’t likely to get any better of him. Also most polls are starting to show that His post-debate bounce is starting to settle and he is still behind President Obama anywhere from one to five percentage points. And I know that many people will whine about margins of error, but this far into the election cycle those margins become less and less important as the polls start to solidify. I may not have your experience on the hill, but I do have a Master’s degree in political science and a minor in math. My experience with numbers tells me that unless Obama does something more to hurt his campaign he’s got this one in the bag.

    2. Really? you worked in politics and havent just looked at the betting slips yet? You would be the first one that pays attention to the election and not the money. People bet on presidential elections, and for the last 20 years, those going into the election with the highest odds have always won. Lots bet because its a pretty solid investment, and the min is 5k at most betting sites. Obama will win, he has the numbers. I always wonder what conservatives are thinking, they really dont have much of a leg to stand on these days, with a slew of not only bad candidates (mccain who revealed military secrets to the enemy, bush who through arbusto oil actually sponsored al queda, and now romney a businessman with magic underwear, and yes mormons believe thier secret underwear is bullet proof because of magic), but bad politics.(facism in speeches, fraudulent business practices, bailouts of buddies) Conservatism has also taken quite a few intellectual steps down, now only 20% of those americans which a 4 year degree are registered to the conservative party, where a whopping 65-70% are registered democrats, simply put, the smarter you are, the harder it is to think what conservatives will say will work. Business leaders are very wary of Mitts foreign policy, and so he has less support in the business sector than you might think, his foreign policy ideas will lose major american companies billions in profits. The biggest problem facing conservatives though is the electoral votes. Lets face it: conservatives live in less developed, less inhabited states. These states have less electoral power, because they represent very little of the populace. For instance, you get 12 red states, nebraska, arizona, ones like that. California typically votes left on presidents and new york always does, thats more than the 12 red states already. Infact its also twice as many people.

  11. I have travelled a great deal all over the world. I have seen things from the ridiculous to the sublime. But I have to tell you, the fact that Romney is neck to neck with the brilliance of Mr. Obama, is a statement of the American mentality that borders on insanity. What are you people thinking down there. I’m Canadian and what is going on just 100 miles away is scaring the #^## out of me. Come on America… wake up and smell your money for the last time as the Republicans steal it all.

    1. Anthony doesn’t represent all Canadians. Or even most Canadians. Or the intelligence of Canadians. He just comes across as another francophone socialist on the doll, living off Telefilm’s tax dollars and first in line to belittle the government that’s handing it to him. Frankly, he should be keeping his nose out of your business.

      1. WOW Jery, you sure made this discussion personal. You would make a great Republican. First, you are racist (Francophone socialist). In fact, I do not speak french. I couldn’t pass a grade 1 french test. I’ve been self employed all my life. I’ve always owned my own companies since university, and probably paid more in taxes than you have earned. Second you make accusations that have nothing to do with fact (on the doll, living off Telefilm’s tax dollars). I’ve never taken 1 penny from any government or agency. In fact, my currant production is completely self financed to the tune of $250,000.00. Third, you cannot read. (belittle the government that’s handing it to him). I was talking about the USA, not Canada. Fourth, you are a closed minded grumpy old man that doesn’t want people to express their right to freedom of speech.

  12. Besides all the other blunders Biden made last night, he said. “Iran DOES NOT HAVE A BOMB TO PUT THEIR ENRICHED PLUTONIUM INTO.” That must have come from the same “intelligence” that the recent Libya tragedy came from, when it took them two weeks to realize the U.S. embassy attack was indeed a planned terrorist attack. The fact is that most intelligence agencies admit that there is no possibly way to know for sure if and when Iran will be nuke ready.

What we do know is that Iran wants to pursue a nuclear weapon or any other weapon that could carry our their ultimate desire; Death to America and Israel. Both Biden and Obama do not get this…

  13. Just for your information please take a look at the below statistics. Don’t be mistaken! These statistics are from many years before Barack Obama entered the office. But America has a high amount of rich people.

World Top 10 – Countries with Highest Standard of Living

    Country

    1. Norway
    2. Sweden
    3. Canada
    4. Belgium
    5. Australia
    6. United States
    7. Iceland
    8. Netherlands
    9. Japan
    10. Finland

    1. Read the Economist at all? Take a gander at this week’s issue, on how Sweden is rather quickly abandoning their socialist economic system.

Socialism works great, but it creates a glass ceiling over everyone. After 20 or so years, everyone just looks around and says, “it that all there is?”. Socialism retards enterpreneurial growth, which is what all strong economies are built upon. If you want to ensure that our country’s growth is stunted in the long term, keep voting Democrat. At a given point, even the Democrats will get tired of it, but by then I’ll be just as old as Lester and beaten down by years of paying for other people’s stuff to care……

  14. Now has Obama fixed it? No. He has not. But is Mitt Romney the answer, going back to the old Republican ways that caused it in the first place? Americans have very short attention spans. They usually can only remember about a year ago. They need to remember about four, five, six years ago of who caused this.

    1. Obama has stopped America from falling off of the cliff and turned back the tide of the recession. DON’T GIVE UP NOW!! America is on the rise. Romney panders to everyone…tell him what you want and he will promise it to you. Romney would have us believe that it is Obama’s fault gas is $4 a gallon. IT’S SUPPLY AND DEMAND based on the world demand for oil. When the world’s economies tanked, the demand for oil went down and so went the price of gas. The fact that it is back up, a bit more than before the crash when W was president, is a good sign the economy is recovering. It’s not a sign of a shortage as Mitt would have us believe. We’re not idiots Mitt!! Domestic oil production is at a 16 year high. Leases were taken away from the holders that were not using them and will be sold to companies that will actually drill for oil.

      DON’T DRINK MITT’S KOOLAIDE

  15. Well I will say this, your full of contempt for anyone & anything that won’t put more freebies on your plate (err bowl) huh? This hatred you have for Mitt is really all about your fear that your precious Obamacare will be taken away before you even get it! I guess I am sorry about your health issues but not really. My guess is all that booze & cigs you pufff up about (get it?) is what caused your present state of health. So being as You created this issue, You now want someone, anyone else (but yourself of coarse) to PAY FOR IT! Sorry, but I am NOT responsible for payign for You to get a new @sshole now that yours is blown out.

The Socialist America hating POTUS is hell bent on dragging this great country down to the level of the very cr@p that wants to fly hijacked planes into buildings. How many more times is he going to get on bent knee and apologize for the success, power & prosperity the U.S. has earned & enjoyed?
    One
    Big
    @ss
    Mistake
    America

    Vote for MITT!!!!

    1. Holy crap! The education system in this country is in shambles. Do you even realize how badly you have mangled the English language with your post? I encourage opposing opinions but, my God, your spelling and grammar is absolutely atrocious, sir. Though it may not be the fault of the school you attended. It’s possible, you’re just an idiot.

    2. Obama has gotten good healthcare for America, something that several presidents tried and failed. Score one for Barak!! BTW, There are tens of thousands of job openings for healthcare workers today, thousands in the Pittsburgh area alone. When Obamacare kicks in high gear will mean more jobs in the healthcare industry. Look to the future students, America can’t outsource healthcare. In 2 years, there will be a bigger demand for healthcare workers building hospitals, diagnostic clinics etc….Think about it!!

  16. “Hi, I’m Mitt Romney, and I approve this lie”: Borrowing $6 trillion from China to increase defense spending by $3 trillion and offset tax cuts for millionaires will reduce the deficit by $3 trillion and create 7 million jobs – a ridiculous and baseless claim completely devoid of mathematical verification yet staunchly promoted as fact by Mitt’s senior economic advisers: Dewey, Cheatem & Howe!

Let’s take another look at Bush’s botched “trickle-down” economic policies, the exact same failed policies Mitt plans to reintroduce with reckless abandon, if elected: massive Clinton surplus transformed into $12 trillion deficit, unemployment surpasses 9.7%, 60,000 manufacturing plants shuddered, 700,000 teachers and police officers pink slipped, Wall Street implodes, value of 401 retirement accounts reduced by 31%, 14 million Americans laid off, food stamp recipients go from 27 million to 49 million, and 50 million Americans are left high and dry with no health insurance. And now Mitt wants back in to finish the devastation started by Bush 43? Insanity defined!

  17. Lester — you are so right! Mitt has geared his career and life to becoming President and he and his wife feel entitled. He is a consultants consultant – say anything to get the job. That is why he is caught is so many lies now. He was a disaster is Massachusetts and didn’t run for a second term because his approval rating was around 30%. He now claims all these wonderful things he did – what a joke. On being bipartisan – he vetoed 800 pieces of legislation which the legislature overturned 75% of the time. On taxes – he lowered taxes for the rich but raised every fee in the state. He pays the same for a driver’s license that a retiree pays. Cut funding to cities and towns causing increases in property taxes. He ran the state into a deficit. The state lost jobs under his administration and education suffered. And on a personal note there is something weird about him ….. he had an elevator in the state house taken over for his private use so he didn’t have to interact with people. He does not like to be touched and he gets really angry when challenged. To anyone reading this do anything and everything you can to keep the “Romney Lyan” team from getting elected.

    1. Mitt claimed he worked (compromised) with the Democrats in the Mass Legislature. He had to…He was up to his beady little eyes in Democrats. He had to play ball with them or he may have just as well pack up his mitt, bat and balls and trot on off back to Utah.

  18. Mr. Romney is the greatest flip-flopper of modern political times. What’s interesting is that Republicans aren’t even contesting his flip-flops, both sides have conceded the fact. The right’s only argument is that President Obama has also flip-flopped nanananana. Not true. If you look at Candidate Obama’s promises and statements, clearly defined BTW unlike another candidate, you’ll see that he ATTEMPTED almost everything he promised. He has not necessarily succeeded but intelligent, knowledgeable people understand why. So essentially, what we have is a flim-flam man who changes his stories whenever convenient running against a true President that states his intentions and upholds his word. And Republicans are defending Mr. Romney because …uhhh….uhhh… because they’re Republicans.

  19. Stick a fork in Obama… he’s already done. There is nothing he can do to remove the doubt the voters have about him now. And especially since Hilary Clinton had to “take the blame” for Obama not doing his job and going to his security briefings… there’s no hope for the Donks… they’re doomed.

  20. I am a senior and Mitt Romney isn’t the boogie man and is bound and determined to save medicare and Social Security! All Obozo wants to do is destroy both and lump everyone into a single payor system that will not ony be inferior but for Lester he will have to deal with “death” panels and rationing, along with some 10 new taxes at a yearly new cost of 1.75 Trillion! Live with that Lester and Richard!

    1. The facts differ with your points, Sam. Romney is under the illusion that “people don’t die in their apartment.” If you don’t have have insurance, though, you can’t go to an emergency room and get a new defibrillator, or treatment for cancer. The ER WILL take you when you are dying. If you lost your job for some uncontrollable reason, got sick, and could not get insurance, tough luck. A Reuters study estimated that more than 40,000 people die each year because they don’t have health insurance. May you never be in that situation, Sam. BTW, I think most of us on this post are seniors, Sam.

      1. Cyndy,
The “un-insured” by a vast majority are Illegal! Thus they have no insurance. Thus they get a free ride and have no incentive to do otherwise. With the Left throwing all manner of freebies and promises of amnesty at them; WHY would they get insurance? They’d have to PAY then!

      2. With all due repect, that is a load of leftist propaganda. If some can’t go to the ER then how can the illegal criminals get there and if you are a citizen, what about Medicade if you are indigent. Obamacare ripped off $716 Billion from Medicare to fund the monstrosity for the 12,000,000 uninsured. My God, who would ever believe Reuters and their phony studies!!!! You can go to an emergency room for anything since it was mandated by the Supremes in the 70’s!!! Please stop the bleeding heart stuff it is beneath you!

    2. Another one drank the Mitt Koolaide. There are no death panels. These will be knowledgeable healthcare professionals making policies, not judging individual cases. Where would your Social Security be if you had been allowed to invest your social security in the stock market? Where will you be when your voucher runs out? Maybe you are rich but most of us who will be hopefully retiring in 10 years or so are not.

  21. Some of these responses to Lester is a perfect example of the apathy and in some respects, disdain of which we hold the elderly. I believe that our country needs to have a social net that catches those who may not be able to help themselves. I could go into a long tirade, but – I feel sorry for you. You may need assistance one day, hell, all of us might. To characterize assistance to people like Lester as ‘a free ride’ is not even close to what he’s asking. Whether or not you want Romney or Obama, we need to support our elderly and those who need help. Help comes in many ways – not only in money but in programs that enable those to get back into the system.

  22. Let’s compare Obama’s and Romney’s Stances on the issues:

    Mitt Romney ———————————- Barack Obama
( Romney’s stance subject to change over and over )

    Pro NDAA ————————————–Pro NDAA

Lies to You ———————————–Lies To you

Hmmm…seems I’m having difficulty here coming up with differences…they appear to be the same candidate.

Of course there is no reason to think Mitt will be “Pro” on any of these issues tomorrow, with the way he flip flops on EVERYTHING.

    A President Romney = A President Obama.

There is no difference between The Republican Party and The Democrat Party.
It’s more like a two party dictatorship. Third parties are excluded from the main stream media and debates.
Every 4 years we ride the Repub/Demo Merrie-Go-Round where the only thing that changes are the players.

The Republicans are no longer the conservative party. Romney, is a total idiot.

    The ONLY Conservative party left.
    Libertarian. Live Free!
    http://www.garyjohnson2012.com

    1. It’s not fair to compare the two of them like you did. Look at Romney’s top donors list.
      Goldman Sachs $891,140
      Bank of America $668,139
      JPMorgan Chase & Co $663,219
      Morgan Stanley $649,847
      Credit Suisse Group $554,066
      Citigroup Inc $418,263
      Wells Fargo $414,750
      Barclays $403,800
      Kirkland & Ellis $393,667
      Deloitte LLP $355,390
      HIG Capital $338,000
      PricewaterhouseCoopers $333,600
      Blackstone Group $308,725
      UBS AG $308,130
      Elliott Management $281,175
      Bain Capital $268,470
      EMC Corp $257,250
      General Electric $214,450
      Ernst & Young $213,525
      Sullivan & Cromwell $197,150

  23. ARE YOU SERIOUS, LESTER? You screwed up your health with booze & smokes and now you want free medical. Sorry, but as GranDaddy used to say “That Dawg don’t hunt”! The same can be said about Obummacare!

  24. Comments like those made by Cyndy & Richard are so typical of the “thought process” here in California by the Left. No wonder we’re DROWNING in red ink!! “Ohhh, we need to understand their suffering & pain”. “They mean well, we need to help them”. Bullfeathers! If you knowingly & willfully come into this country without proper consent/paperwork; you are an Illegal!!! To all you who feel that is OK; try doing the same in any one of those countries they come from. At best, you’ll end up in some rat infested jail. NO court appointed lawyer, NO welfare, NO free college education for your kids, NO drivers license. NO right to vote, NO free medical. Yet that is exactly what you want/expect be given to those who abuse the system whether they be legal or illegal. Sorry Lester that you screwed up your life, you don’t get a free pass now at my expense.

  25. “We need to find a way to get [the uninsured] insurance, so they get better care. And they cost us less money … they won’t be showing up at the emergency room, which is FAR MORE EXPENSIVE to government and to the rest of us.” Is that ‘bleeding heart,” Sam, or common sense? The quote is from Romney.

  26. I’m a free speech advocate. Which is why I’m here to counter you and state that Barack Obama must not win. Wev cannot afford another four disastrous years of Obama/Biden.
I’m not 89 years old, but gettin’ there.

    1. Maybe you are too old to remember how we got here. The Bush years of lax regulation and starting unfunded wars got us to the brink 5 years ago. Obama took over and turned things around. You want Obama to fix this giant mess in 4 years with NO help from the Republicans who publicly stated their top priority was to make Obama a 1 term president. Romney wants to reverse the regulations that were put in place to help prevent what happened in 2006 & 2007 and give bigger tax cuts to the rich. He has the same plan as George Bush that got us in trouble in the first place.

    1. The Bush years of lax regulation and starting unfunded wars got us to the brink 5 years ago. Obama took over and turned things around. You want Obama to fix this giant mess in 4 years with NO help from the Republicans who publicly stated their top priority was to make Obama a 1 term president. Romney wants to reverse the regulations on the banks and wall street that were put in place to help prevent what happened in 2007 & 2008 and give bigger tax cuts to the rich. He has the same plan as George Bush that got us in trouble in the first place. Romney wants to give the military $2 trillion they did not ask for. Why??? So he can wage war with Iran without adding to the debt

  27. Big Bird, Small President

As of fiscal 2011, Sesame Workshop had assets of $289 million.

FACT: Having been routed in the first debate, President Obama has found a comeback strategy: Fly Big Bird.

Specifically, mock Mitt Romney’s call to cut federal subsidies for the millionaires at the Sesame Workshop and pledge to defend the Public Broadcasting Service no matter how much money the Treasury has to borrow.

At least he’s finally discovered a second-term agenda.

Mr. Obama is mocking a small effort to reduce federal spending, but it would be funnier if Mr. Obama hadn’t also rejected all the larger efforts too.

    From Congressional Republicans.

From his own Simpson-Bowles deficit commission.

From a bipartisan group in the Senate.

At the San Francisco event, as at the debate, as at every other campaign event this year, Mr. Obama offered no plan to move the government’s spending into the same galaxy with its revenues.

At the end of fiscal 2011, Sesame Workshop and its subsidiaries had total assets of $289 million.

FACT: So Big Bird likes to maximize revenues and investment gains as much as the next muppet.

And now the President has made this adorable critter the symbol of federal programs that allegedly require eternal taxpayer aid, even if it has to be put on the future tax bill of today’s pre-schoolers.

    Is that funny?

    1. The corporation for public broadcasting gets only $1 from the us government for every $6 in their budget. The rest is donated by the public. The sad thing is that Romney was serious about this .0001% cut making a difference in the budget but he said he would give the military $2 trillion that they are not asking for. Make sense to you?
When Romney recently addressed foreign leaders in the Clinton World Initiative he stated he is for opening up foreign markets for American entrepreneurs to make investments in foreign countries. He also stated that he would tie foreign aid to countries that do so. No matter what he said at the debates, he has crossed the line and is now anti-american business.

  28. When faced with facts; Libs always run away crying. Living in the past am I? What world are you living in? It has been reported by the state controllers office (Last time I checked, run by a Dem) reported during last years budget sessions that if all “aide” to Illegals was stopped the state would no longer face a budget shortfall. It would in fact have a surplus of funds. Imagine that! California’s own CPA admitts that we (California) don’t have a funding issue, we have a SPENDING issue. So, if I was living in the past; California would have great schools, great infrastructure, great wealth. All things of the PAST. I am a native born son, I grew up here when it WAS the Golden State. Sadly that isn’t the case now; but I will not give up fighting to return it to said former glory!

    1. I’m not for permitting illegals get away with anything but keep in mind that they serve a purpose, in many cases cheap labor doing jobs that us spoiled Americans don’t want.

I say get them legal and let them pay taxes.

I know you have had to have heard reports of prominent Americans hiring illegals, either directly or indirectly to perform services. Mitt Romney is one. When word gets out, they say they were unaware that it was happening. Since the illegals were not paying taxes people like Romney save money on the services they illegals perform. I say, if they get caught, the illegals must pay a finew, whoever hired them must pay a fine and even the rich politicians who the contractors worked for should also pay a fine. The practice of hiring illegals would end very quickly.

  29. I really do want the president to start talking about his second term agenda. He has been doing a lot of it but it is not obvious to some that is why the Repubs can say he didn’t state his agenda for the second term.

He has to have them numbered for the simpletons–sorry for that language. At least 3. Tax reform, Immigration reform and more investment and creating jobs in the “New energy sector”.

Call it New energy and renewable energy interchangeably. People gravitate toward new no matter what it is and it just sounds good for people in my neck of the woods.

  30. If you are a woman….

    Stand up for yourself!

Stand up for your daughters, your grandaughters, your older female relatives, your female friends, your female neighbors for females you do not know but are connected to by virtue of gender.

Stand up for all the little girls who are counting on us to lead the way!

We cannot let the War-on-Women repubs continue their quest to dominate us because of gender!

    Vote Obama/Biden!
Our lives as we know it do depend on it!

    1. This liberal talking point is not holding water. Women need jobs just as much as men, women pay the same high gas prices as men, women are concerned about the things that most Americans are concerned about.

You have conservative women and liberal women and moderate women…pro-choice and pro-life women. But this narrative would have us believe that “women” have one opinion about everything and it happens to match the DNC playform. That’s insulting to women.

  31. Lester spent his life in East Lansing and that city’s claim to fame is being home to what we always called “the cow college”, Michigan State College, later elevated to Michigan State University. They never made a darn thing there. It was Lester’s bad choice to stay there.

On the other hand I spent a little less than half of my life in Flint, MI where we were never able to educate anyone other than engineers at what was then General Motors Institute. The people who worked “in the shop” (which meant any GM production facility) were a concession to the Democrat candidate for any office. Hell! The UAW used to take out full-page or two page ads in every newspaper in southern Michigan for every election and they never endorsed a non-Democrat candidate…never.

Through the years of Soapy Williams and John Swainson (a felon like Rod Blagojevich) the UAW owned the governor’s office and the legislature and it always seemed their goals were to see how quickly they could send Michigan to heck in an handbasket. They were good at that goal but they had good partners for the task…the UAW.

Despite my family originally migrating to Michigan in 1900 to work for W. C. Durant it became more and more clear that there was no saving Michigan despite the great work of George W. Romney and Bill Milliken as governors following Swainson so I left regrettably in 1975 and moved West. That was a great move and just ahead of the rush of Michiganders out of southern Michigan.

Lester doesn’t know poop! He clearly doesn’t know Mitt Romney and after reading his post I think it’s time to get him some clear liquids like these “includes Jell-O, Popsicles, Italian ice, soup (clear soup only without vegetables or noodles. Plain chicken soup is fine), soda, Gatorade, coffee, tea, water, and juices (no pulp). Essentially, you can have any liquid through which you can see light. Make sure none of liquids are colored red or purple.”

Obviously this old codger has a prejudice against anything red or purple because he can’t have it in his diet which explains his addiction to Democrat candidates like Obama who are blue because they’re holding their breath waiting for a good idea to come along.

Well, here’s a good idea: pray that the rumors that Penny Pritzker is acting as a straw purchaser to buy the Obamas a house in Hawaii is true because if it is and the Obamas retire there in 2013 we all benefit. Oh, Lester, you’ve got to suspect that he’s senile.

  32. I really think this debate is Obama’s to lose. He has a solid record with foreign policy, regardless of the over-hyped Benghazi episode. Is it an issue when four Americans lose their lives overseas, one of them being an Ambassador? Absolutely.
Is it a deal breaker, especially considering the other accomplishments of this administration, and the utter failure of his predecessor? Absolutely not.

  33. Mitt must be concerned about the Mormon prophesy that Jesus would rule the world from Missouri. There’s no beachfront vacation homes there.

  34. Oh come on guys, take a pill! I’m a die-hard Republican, and this article made me laugh out loud. This guy is my favorite Democrat ever!

  35. I’d like to invite both Gov. Romney and Congressman Ryan to tour the devastated parts of New York and New Jersey and then tell us the Federal Government should sit on its hands. The damage, I am quite sure will run into the trillions of dollars. Come to my house, wade through the water and see how long you can get by without electricity.

  36. It’s immoral to spend what, 10 or 20 billion helping our citizens facing despair, but it’s ok to spend TRILLIONS giving the very rich massive tax breaks and TRILLIONS more on waging war? Get tougher with Iran and Syria? At what cost governor? What if Romney declares China a monetary manipulator on “Day One” and it causes a trade war that ends or curtails our trading with China? More unemployment and less money added to the national coffers will be the direct result. China won’t care.

It’s time for America to wake up and realize that Mitt Romney is not the candidate who will help those most in need. No question he’ll once again back-track his statements and tell everyone that FEMA is important, but we all know he does not believe so in his heart. How very sad…

    1. There is so much to call Romney out on because he stands for nothing beyond taking care of himself and his pals at the country club.
In light of Hurricane Sandy, let’s call Mitt out on this statement he made during one of the GOP primary debates. He’s talking about eliminating FEMA.
“Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better.”
Romney. Tell that to the 60 million Americans who are being directly effected by the hurricane.

  37. He is not the POTUS, so why is he speakling with FEMA, it’s completely inappropriate as a candiadate that he would do that. However, again it shows how desperate he is and it also shows he has no respect for the U.S. Government at all. He want’s to privatize FEMA? Mmmm

Romney is a disgrace…shame on him trying to use “Sandy” to score political points again…it makes me sick.

  38. Mitt Romney was really concerned that his “Storm Relief Event” in Kettering, Ohio yesterday would look like a dud, so he and his team stocked their donation tables with $5,000 worth of supplies at Walmart. The props, according to Buzzfeed’s McKay Coppins, were things like granola bars, canned food, and diapers which were strategically placed to make sure that the photographs taken at Romney’s “Storm Relief” campaign didn’t a show very un-busy, un-stocked relief table (what else do you expect when you give people short notice to donate their canned goods?). But … but … look at how pretty all those fake donations look:

And apparently, the event was so manufactured that they allowed supporters to use the donations which were bought by the campaign, to donate back to the campaign. According to Coppins:

Empty-handed supporters pled for entrance, with one woman asking, “What if we dropped off our donations up front?”

The volunteer gestured toward a pile of groceries conveniently stacked near the candidate. “Just grab something,” he said.

Two teenage boys retrieved a jar of peanut butter each, and got in line. When it was their turn, they handed their “donations” to Romney. He took them, smiled, and offered an earnest “Thank you.”

Maybe it doesn’t matter who bought the goods as long as they all went to people in need. “The campaign confirmed that it ‘did donate supplies to the relief effort,’ but would not specify how much it spent,” reported Coppins.

  39. I appreciate your concerns, Lester. But I’ve been reading about the victims of Hurricane Sandy and their reactions to democrats deciding to hold the marathon which resulted in mile long gas lines, generators being diverted from them to the media, and companies not being allowed to help with the clean up because they were non-union. Wouldn’t surprise me if the east coast turns against Obama.

  40. Not only will it be goodbye to Romney/Ryan tomorrow…but also goodbye to *Congressman* Ryan, Bachmann, Walsh, West, Cantor, Akin, Mourdock, Mandel and a bunch of other TP zaynees. Further hopes?

  41. As a Brit, I can tell you, we don’t want Romney to win…. Say hello to World War 3 if he wins…. He’ll take you and the western world into Iran and turn the rest of the world against us even more…. Say no to Romney tonight! For the worlds sake!

  42. I agree completely with everything you said. I have the same gut feeling and feel the same way about health. It is everything. I don’t care how much money I have, at the end of the day I want to be healthy and alive.

  43. This is a really good tip especially to those fresh to the blogosphere.

Simple but very precise info… Thank you for sharing this one.
    A must read article!
