He was 43 years old.

I offer my deepest condolences to his family and friends.  A sudden death like this is incredibly tragic.

Yes, he was an asshole (at least in my mind) and a much hated Right Wing Conservative political bomb thrower.  He rarely cared who he verbally stepped on, attacked or ruined.

To be fair, he was also much loved (I suppose) by the Far Right.

But politics is not the point here.

The point is – the man died last night.

The media has already flashed the “Breaking News” alert, flooded social media, analyzed his impact on society, put forward ideas on who will replace him on the bomb throwing Right, etc.

The man has been dead for less than 9 hours!

It immediately reminded me of CNN’s 9/11 coverage.  I distinctly remember Jeff Greenfield standing on CNN’s roof with the World Trade Center still standing far in the background with smoke pouring out after the planes hit (and minutes before the collapse) and he’s basically summing up what it will all mean historically and what can we learn from this tragedy.

News coverage today is a complete joke and further proof that the world’s attention span is completely shot.  With one final TWEET, Andrew was gone – forever.

What kind of a world are we living in when Davy Jones’ death (yesterday) is old news?

When contemplating the passing of someone who went out of his way to be a negative force and actively hinder reasonable debate and friendly disagreement, one must adopt the Zen stance and accept the following:

“His life was his own punishment.”

I hope Breitbart is reincarnated as a poor black female who grows up to spend her life working for peace, truth, and justice. That would be karma in action.

Breitbart enjoyed the game of politics, and seemingly had no filter – it was incredibly annoying at times, but that’s the man he was – I can’t exactly celebrate his life, yet I won’t celebrate his death – even though Breitbart and his readers did exactly that.

Time to take the high road.

Maybe he can be bapitzed a Mormon?

My condolences to the family, but the guy was a liar and had no compunction about manipulating the truth to fit his agenda. He did NOTHING to raise the level of political discourse in the country.
And I Wonder if the real COD will ever be released.
My guess, due to the overwhelming silence so far, is drugs, some ‘liberal’ disease or found dead in bed with a boy.
Whatever the reason, they will probably blame the liberals for plotting to kill him.

You’re a such a tolerant open minded liberal.

As soon as I saw the dude screaming incoherently at the OWS protesters during CPAC, with that classic d-bag stubble beard, I knew he was coked to the gills. Dude was on some Tony Montana ish. And now he’s dead.

If someone declares “war” on his political “enemies”, and spends his life acting accordingly, you’ll have to come up with some damn good reason why those “enemies” should feel any need to act civilly upon news of his death. I can’t work up much beyond indifference–I always thought he seemed like a sad, insecure man trying to prove how tough he was, and I always wondered what had happened to him as a kid to piss him off so much. Other than that, I’m sorry for his kids.

At the end of any life, there is the question, “is the world better for this person?”

  9. Freedom Bob · March 1, 2012

Like he called Ted Kennedy upon his death A special Pile of excrement – he shall also be labelled as such. May he rot in hell for those who believe.

I’m disgusted with the vitriol shown here. A man dies and the left can’t wait to smear him more than they did in life. Stop the ignorance which has engulfed the progressive left movement of today. Its just sad.

Facts are not debatable, Truth has no agenda.

The truth about Conservatives and Liberals

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a black man or Hispanic are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. (Unless it’s a foreign religion, of course!)

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he’s in labor and then sues..

If a conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.

    Regards,
    Phantom Lady

bravo ……bravissimo. I’m ambivalent about the passing of Breitbart but I completely agree w/ the above statement.

    • Walter · March 1, 2012

Both of them have their own issues and at times I hate one over the other,. I think you got this reversed..

      >>If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
      >>Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

The loud talking and yelling annoys the shit out of me…

      >>If a conservative slips and falls in a store, he gets up, laughs and is embarrassed.
      >>If a liberal slips and falls, he grabs his neck, moans like he’s in labor and then sues..

In my experience conservatives are the ones looking for a pay day!

Breitbart set new lows for journalistic integrity during his brief moment of notoriety. Never one to let the truth deter his quest for ways to damage and discredit those he disagreed with, he did as much to discredit conservative reportage in a few years as Rupert Murdoch has managed in his entire long career. Not surprising that Sister Sarah is singing his praise.

So much hate from the intolerant progressives…

Rest in Peace Andrew Breitbart, An American Patriot! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE COMPASSIONATE LIBERALS AND THE LEFT! The have shone their True Colors and their Hatred.

    • John Galt · March 1, 2012

In the end, they’ll always show their true colors. They’ll show to the world how open minded they’re really.

      • Just common sense · March 1, 2012

at least we don’t entirely miss the point of the article as some do…
