Whew….
All appears to be right with the World Tree (Yggdrasil) as finally there was a result that was to be expected.
Elise simply had to go this week.
Enough was enough. How much more of that can they expect us to take?
Personally, I didn’t think she would make the Top 12 – much less the Top 5.
So now all that is left is the issue of Hollie which should be taken care of next week (if my Godly instincts are correct – as they normally are).
Then the real competition can begin.
Top 5 Power Rankings (by order of elimination):
That’s it.
Just like last week, this is exactly how things will play out. There will be no more revisions to this list!
Vidar – The Norse God of Silence, Stealth & Revenge
Finally, a week that sort of week according to plan. I couldn’t agree more, Vidar. No one seems to be having fun but Elise is even more dour than all the others. Something is really wrong with this season. Everyone is not finishing strong here.
I can’t stand Skylar and have never understood why the judges keep praising her. She’s unsophisticated and shrill. Every song sounds the same – shouted and growled.
PLEASE vote for anyone but her. She needed to go weeks ago. How anyone thinks she’s better than Elise is a mystery.
Oh thank goodness, Elise is gone. What a horrible singer, full of entitlement and a mediocre raspy voice, simultaneously overtrained and oblivious of her audience. She should have been gone the week that she was the girl with the lowest votes, but Jeremy was sent home. We were never told if she was the lowest votes overall at that time, but we always thought that was the case. No matter how you showcase someone like this, get them to force a smile while they sing, and try to turn them into someone likeable, her fundamental qualiity of voice is lacking, and she is the least likeable contestant since her attitude-twin, Pia. At least PIa had some pipes. Good riddance, Elise, get yourself a little humility. Have fun singing at the bar. Would imagine all your voice students will be quiting soon, unless you teach a lot better than you can sing.
How can you put Joshua at 4th?!!! It is so blatantly obvious that Jessica and Joshua are the best in this competition. I think the judges need to start choosing who wins and loses. The bottom line some people just choose people because they are cute not because of their singing ability. Jessica has a beautiful voice that is full beyond her years. Joshua is another obvious choice. There is a reason the judges stand every time…not some of the time, but every time he sings. He is just that good. If America can’t see that then shame on you. The bottom line, both of them are going to have a big record contracts that will sell.
Josh in 4th?? No way! This man has an uncanny knack for choosing the “right” song and then proceding to nail it. Every week he receives a standing ovation from the judges and I hit “rewind” on my DVR at least a half dozen times just to hear his crazy good voice! My choice is for Jessica and Josh in the finals….I lved their duet a few weeks back. Holly has to go!! Philip sounds the same on every song and every week I see him I find his personality more and more off-putting. Skylar has been in the bottom before and was saved by?? She’s no Carrie Underwood, and I have to leave the room when she starts to whine out her countrified versions of Queen and the like.
Don’t get me wrong – Josh doesn’t DESERVE to be 4th – personally I would like to see him win the whole thing. I just think he’s going to be the SHOCKING ELIMINATION that gets everyone talking about the show. Like the Daughtry elimination or a couple of others over the years.
Standing ovations from the judges? Those “judges” are so busy blowing smoke up our arses in order to rationalize their rediculous choices they’d applaud Hitler if they thought it would bring them any attention.
Integrity has left the building, my friends.
The problem most people have is that their response to American Idol is emotional, not logical. If memory serves me correctly, Phil Phillips hasn’t been in the bottom three yet at all. If he has, I’m sure every other contestant has been there more than him. Well, except for maybe Jessica. Can’t remember if she was in the bottom three before she was almost outsed (which a lot of people were calling bs on anyway). It’s just like high school: A popularity contest. Whoever has the biggest fan base wins. It may not be your favorite contestant and, yes, it may not even be the most talented, but it’s what stands.
I like them all but I pick Skylar. The reason she is so popular is because country music is huge right now! I hope she wins or at least comes in second. I like Josh and Jessica but I just think Skylar is better because I like that country sound.
You got the rankings right. unfortunately because philip has been selected by votefortheworst.com, that will essentially keep him safe till the finale. personally, much as i agree that he offers nothing new since week1, he will be one of the final two. so it will be a tossup for the other slot between hopefully the talented Jessica and Joshua. If there is any justice at all, it should be J squared in the finale and not P squared.
I like the way your prediction is set. It kind of made me think about how the finale would be…
While I agree with all my heart that the ones who should fire up the finale are Jessica and Joshua, I don’t think it would really sound so good to have two vocal powerhouse performers outsing each other…I think the scenario here would be that the voters will now be given an option to choose the kind of artist they want to hear: a simple, mellow, steady-flowing performance, or a powerful, soulful and adventurous stream of music. It’s like Jessica will sing to convince people that “hey listen to me, I can take you for a ride!” or Philip will sing to tell everyone that “You want something steady? Then listen to me,”. Joshua, although he’s a talented and soulful singer, has a particular timbre of voice that is so typical of him, which a certain niche would love listening to over and over again. Jessica’s and Philip’s appeals are international and they present different approaches.
Jessica is a powerful and interpretative singer, who plays with her song choices and offers them to the public with sugar and spice. Philip, although of lesser power-vocals, can present his tunes in a safer, more predictable way that can be ridden on by most. So eventually, what we will see in the finale are two ways on how we want our idol to be for this year and no one could be more versatile than these two.
Just my two cents worth…
I disagree with this list. Phillips will go tonight. Then Hollie… Skylar next… then in the finals it will be Jessica and Joshua – Jess wins.
The way the performances were last night Jessica and Joshua definitely deserve to be the final 2. But those that deserve don’t necessary get it. The list is how I think it will go – not how it should go. Joshua is still going to be the SHOCKING elimination that gets everyone talking about the show. Hollie goes tonight.
At this point in the competition I think you have to look at who the fan base of the eliminated singer might gravitate towards. I see Elise’s fan base splitting between Skylar and Hollie. I think that Phil Phillips may have played the “I’m too handsome to get voted off” card for the second week, but this time lost.
While I would love to see the final come down to Joshua and Jessica, I see the power rankings as:
#5 Phillip Phillips (gone tonight)
#4 Jessica Sanchez (surprise elimination in the Daughtry spot)
#3 Hollie Cavanaugh
#2 Skylar Laine (who will have the solid support of the C&W audience)
#1 Joshua Ledet (who will pick up some of the Phillips fan base)
I’m going to stick with Hollie’s elimination tonight. I do think Phillip might have been hurt when they showed his girlfriend last night. But, then again, we all know the votes don’t really count and it’s the Producers who ultimately make the decisions.
Your rankings are already wrong….Skylar is gone……Joshua Ledet will win AMERICAN IDOL…..You are the only one who would rank Joshua 4th…..This is absurd…..I agree with the judges and with Steven Vandt ,,,,,,,,Joshua Ledet is in a league of his own…..The only two singers on IDOL (ever) who I would define in the greatness category are Adam Lambert and Joshua Ledet…..I would not go to a Kelly Clarkson or Chris Daughtry concert…..But I would shell out $$$$ to see either Lambert or Ledet perform…..You are watching a different AMERICAN IDOL show than other people…..You probably would label the late Frank Sinatra as an ordinary singer if you would categorize Joshua Ledet in 4th place on IDOL…..Elise and especially Skylar were extremely ugly-looking women…..That is why they were eliminated…If they looked like Carrie Underwood they would still be on IDOL…..The finale will be Ledet and Sanchez and Ledet will WIN……
No shit. Last week was a shocker. Here’s the new Top 4 power rankings after last week’s blow up. Everything had to be reset.
