A Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade float of MC Comics’beloved comic strip character Captain Stoppo (most popular in the 1930s and 1940s) crashes into the crowd, injuring dozens. The float was popped and never used again.
Because of MGM’s incredible success with ‘The Wizard Of Oz,’ Manka Bros. produced a film based on another L. Frank Baum property ‘The Enchanted Island Of Yew.’ The film was… not a success.
This Day in Manka Bros History – November 15, 1973:
Pierogi Park – Manka Bros.’ show created to compete with ‘Sesame Street’ premiered. It spun off beloved characters such as Bulgaria Sonia and The Two-Face Freak.
Manka Bros.’ first immersive fan experience – The Manka Bros. Halloween Carnival Fright – is shut down after ‘angry fans’ storm the Main Studio Gate and demand refunds ($249+ per ticket) in what was widely described as an ‘epically fucking shitty experience.’
