After the huge financial success of the Bulgarian juggling comedy ‘The Brothers Kielbasa,’ Khan Manka (Sr.) buys a 300 room, 100,000 square foot mansion on Long Island’s North Shore – dubbed ‘Kasa Kielbasa’

 

He would occasionally stay in the house whenever he had to visit the New York office.

King Boris III of Bulgaria visits Manka Bros. and has lunch with co-founder Simeon Manka.

 

The Manka brothers were, of course, born and raised in Bulgaria, coming to America in the early 1900s as teenagers.

 

No photographers were allowed in the room or at the studio at any time during the King’s visit, only a sketch artist.

Ollie Ostrich Makes His Debut!

On February 18, 1924, Bulgarian artist Bu Iwanka created Manka Bros.’ first animated character – Ollie Ostrich (who became Orange Ostrich in 1929 using the groundbreaking Manka Bros. TriMankaTateā„¢ film coloring process).
