Is this show over?
Vidar finds it very hard to watch a show in which there is no one to root for.
After this week’s episode “The Cost Of Art,” it is very hard to feel anything for Ivy (Megan Hilty) because she has turned into a jealous she-bitch. Perhaps her classic femme fatale character arc will be entertaining as we slowly watch her descend into madness (and wear little outfits).
Karen (Katharine McPhee) is so devoid of facial expressions that rooting for her would be like rooting for a bag of flour. Sure, there is potential to turn it into a delicious loaf bread, but it would take a lot of kneading. And who’s got time for kneading?
So, who’s left to like?
Julia (Debra Messing) who cheated on her ex-science teacher husband with the Joe DiMaggio guy (again, why can’t he go back to being a science teacher – because he has to wait for the mail to update him on the adoption? What?). Can’t root for Julia.
How about Joe DiMaggio? Oh, yeah, he cheated on his wife with Julia. Can’t really root for him.
Perhaps Vidar can root for Eileen (Anjelica Huston) – because she was a victim of cheating by her louse of an ex-husband. (It really shows the depth of the writing in the fact that cheating on a spouse seems to be the main character flaw.)
But Vidar can’t root for Eileen – she is as weak as a troll and the only idea she can come up with to fund the “Marilyn” musical is to sell a painting that legally isn’t hers. Nut up, Eileen!
Come up with better, more clever ideas writers! This shit sucks.
There is certainly no one to root for among the trio of creepy guys – the director Derek (Jack Davenport); the scuzzball personal assistant Ellis (Jaime Cepero); and Dev (Raza Jaffrey). All jerks in their own way. Something really weird is going to happen with Dev, it just has to, he’s too icky.
Who knew that Broadway was such a despicable place? Does everyone in the Broadway community have to be a loser?
Ah well… Perhaps there will be a glimmer of hope with next week’s episode entitled “Let’s Be Bad.”
Vidar will now be very flip and say: “But you’ve been doing that all season!”

It’s not a terrible show but there is a sense of self satisfaction that bothers me.
It’s not gonna make it. It will make it through 15 episodes but it’s not coming back. Youre right Vdiar. no one cares about these characters. I think thats necessary in a hit show.
