For five years, Dave Kittrick and Caleb Young (CREATORS, PRODUCERS) worked in the maintenance department at MBS TV Studios. After commiserating about their experiences on their respective High School speech teams, they came up with an idea for an unscripted program set in the exciting world of competitive forensics. When MBS TV executive Jay McBee passed by them one day, Dave and Caleb locked him inside their supply closet, promising not to release him until he gave their show a green light. A three-day police standoff resulted in jail time for Kittrick and Young, but when they got out, McBee welcomed them back with a five-year exclusive contract to develop programs through their company, Probation Productions.
