Leo Laporte Gets It

Ben Silverman doesn’t.  He really thinks he gets it but we know he doesn’t – and I seriously doubt Mob Wives will get him to the Promise Land of creating a next generation media business model.

But LEO LAPORTE (founder and chief guru of twit.tv – or This Week In Technology) GETS IT!

Please watch this 40 minute speech (which I previously posted in October 2009 – but I think deserves a second look) he gave to the Online News Association and you’ll see what I mean.

  1. Great speech. Thanks Jill. I’ll have to research this Leo Laporte and see what his deal is. I didn’t watch the entire speech – I’ll have to do it later. Thanks.

  2. The problem I have with an overall niche strategy – for big companies – is the overhead needed to manage all the niches. If you just have a BIG strategy with content for wide appeal, you don’t need all that specialized headcount.

  3. I don’t know. For a small website with good traffic and a small staff this works. For a big company (let’s say The New York Times), imagine the overhead and expenses. The revenue just isn’t there to sustain it.
